| Second Life Second Life is defined by wikipedia as "an Internet-based virtual world," created by Linden Labs. One can become a resident for free by downloading the software at www.secondlife.com however, check first to make sure your computer has one of the required types of video card installed. Users of Second Life can play games, purchase land (with real money, exchanged for "Linden Dollars"), build and create and interact however you like. There is even a flourishing spiritual element of Second Life (SL). There are many Buddhist shrines where you can sit down and meditate, a mosque where you can pray to Mecca, Christian churches with pews, and Pagan circles and classes. FUUCSL is where UUs in Second Life come together for worship (Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings) and warm social discourse. All are welcome there. | How to Find Us! Once you have connected to Second Life, the first step is to create your "Avatar" which is the character you will be using to walk/fly around. You will also learn the basics of manuvering. Once you have gotten a comfortable handle on the controls, come and find FUUCSL! At the bottom of your screen are a number of buttons, including "Search," a button in the middle. Use the search function to find us, and then click on "teleport." This will take your avatar directly to our doorstep! We look forward to seeing you there! | |
