FUUCSL NEWS

4/4/07 USA Today article!

On April 2, 2007 FUUCSL showed up on the front page of the Life section of the newspaper, USA Today. A picture of the church was used, captioned "Unitarian Universalist Church." Click the picture to the right to see it enlarged.

FUUCSL also got a mention in a few lines of the article:
"George Byrd, 37, a Columbus, Ohio, real estate broker, built the lavishly landscaped First Unitarian Universalist Church of Second Life, and organized weekly services that now draw more than 40 people.

To Byrd, virtual services here are as authentic as those in the physical-world church he attends in Columbus. 'The spiritual connection is in your brain and in your soul. It's the same either way,' Byrd says."
The online version of the article has a video which includes part of FUUCSL's official video, showing the church (in its older, smaller location) and playing "Come Come Whoever You Are." Visit the online article, "Faithful build a Second Life for religion online" to see the video and read the full text from the paper.

4/4/07 FUUCSL upgrades from chapel size to sanctuary size
Due to the rising popularity and draw of FUUCSL, we have moved to accommodate more members! A purchase was made of the island, Lovelace (30, 28, 21) and a whole new sanctuary was built, designed of course by Biz Berry. Our former capacity of 40 visitors, which locked the doors when full, is now expanded to 60.

The church can still be found easily by doing a search and teleport. We still have a waterfall and trees still surround our worship space. One new difference is the tall super-gazebo-like stained glass ceiling. If you haven't checked it out yet, come see! It is a beautiful place for virtual UU spirituality!
